This is in no way a recommendation (as I haven't even used them yet), but I have just purchased some new hair cutting scissors. Reason being that I have had two cheap ones and I don't feel that I've done my hair any good, so as I embark on this Curls of Joy hair challenge I will start with a fresh trim. The got the Glamtech Certo scissors from www.coolblades.co.uk for £15.99, I some may think what!! But it's better to invest in some goods ones rather than to keep replacing my cheapies, also this is resonable, and you can get cheaper ones on the site.

Curls of Joy “Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair” Challenge April 1-June 23, 2012
For give me for being slow, but I was (and still am) a big fan of the YouTuber Mahogany Curls but she went on hiatus, and I didn't really know that she was back until today! So anyway in my search for her I came across a new hair challenge. I've never been a big fan of hair challenges but I want to pay even more attention to hair in order to gain some length. If you want to join the challenge check out the Curls of Joy blog, you need to register by March 25th.

BeUNIQUE Hair Care Launch
Monday is the day! I am scared and excited all at the same time, scared because I don't want anything to go wrong and I want everyone to like the product,s and excited because as soon as the money starts coming in I can start expanding the brand and add more products. Due to the fact that I am funding this venture myself I can only launch with two products, before the end of the year I hope to have at least 7 on the website! It's hard being just one person having to create all the goodies and also having a full time job, but hopefully in the near future this business will be my full time job.

Mini Twists
I have enjoyed 2 weeks of bliss with my hair in mini twists, and I'm just about to was to now. Doing mini twists has allowed me to have fun with my hair without getting any tangles, and yeah, it may tak awhile to put it but I felt it was worth it, so worth it that I'm going to put them back in! Puting them in also allowed me to compare my length to other times I had them in. I made sure I moisturised every day with a sprtiz that had a pH between 4.5-5, I know that a lot of natural like to moisturise with just water but it has a pH of 7 which isn't the natural pH of our hair and can cause frizz. I locked in the moisture with Butta' Shine, and used it on the ends of my hair as as well. Here are some pictures of my mini twists before and now.

Naturally Fabulous
Braaap, Braaaap, Braaaap! To Angel from The Natural Lounge for putting on a GREAT event on Saturday, I went home with a sense of euphoria after being in the presence of so many natural women and in the company of much positive vibes.
I was blessed enough to be part of a weekend long event involving Angel and Naptural Roots magazine, which meant that I was able to meet my ultimate hairspiration Mahogany Boisseau along with the founder of Naptural Roots Magazine LeAnne Dolce and spend the weekend in the company of some beautiful natural Nubian Queens.
The Naturally Fabulous event was great for those who wanted to network, to gain understanding and also encouragement with regard to their natural journey. There was such a positive energy about the whole event and something that really touched me and affected me was seeing Mumplus2 there with her daughter, why? You may ask, because after hearing Mahogany talk about the fact that she does what she does for the children, I realised that right then and there amongst positive Black female roles models was where Mumplus2’s daughter should have been. All little Black girls need to be at events such as The Naturally Fabulous event so that their ideas of beauty and are not always the weavalicious women that they see on MTV Base.
It was great to meet so many YouTube subbies and meet up with my fellow YouTube sisters. The amount of people asking me if I was selling my products at the event has made me realise I need to get my butt in gear and sort it out, and big a big shout out to Fusion of Cultures aka Laila-Jean for rocking her twists and telling everyone that asked that she used Mango Twist, I swear when she loaded her YouTube video I got about 30 new subbies! Of you got Mango Twist in your goody bag please email me and tell me what you think info@beuniquehaircare.co.uk
The event also had a fashion show which I was a part of along with Shereen Corbin, Michelle Doyle, TheNaprika Stacey, Ero aka Natureal Rox and one more lady (whose name I shall include when I remember or when someone prompts me). I have to say we all rocked the runway wearing outfits and jewellery by Yorubatik and Blackamoor Clothing. A big shout out to Melissa and Huguette of Bespoke Hairstyles who did my hair and all the models hair for the day.

Staples
I have to say that I'm in love with Tresemme Naturals hair conditioner! To me it's comparable to Giovanni Smooth as Silk, see the video for more info on my staples.
Finally a routine!
I haven’t posted in a looong while, and I really should be better at this blogging malarkey , but I just post when I think I’ve something worth writing about, and as for my ingredient a week that’s gone out the window, but also I don’t want to reveal too much about what’s in my products just yet!
Anyhow the reason I’m posting now is because I finally have a hair routine! This will be my 4th week of my 6 week cycle and I have noticed improvements in my hair. Before I reveal that, something that has drastically changed my hair and the amount I loose on wash day is NOT USING A COMB, BRUSH OR TANGLE TEEZER TO DETANGLE, yes I only finger detangle every week and comb detangle with my Hercules Comb once a month. I don’t get any fairy knots and tangles have drastically reduced. Also since gaining a bit of length I’m enjoying playing with my stretched hair, rather than putting twists in straight from washing, I now braid with a leave in, leave it to dry then the next day play with my hair.
So here is my 6 week routine
WEEK 1
Comb detangle with conditioner, water and veg glycerine – braiding hair into sections - rinse
Leave hair in braids and was with Aubrey Organics GPBShampoo
Undo braids and apply Revive UK’s breakage treatment in sections using Ouchless bands - from Asda (I replace ayurvedic powders that she uses with 5tsp of Kalpi Tone, deep conditioner used Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner) – leave for 30mins and rinse
Apply Giovanni Smooth as Silk braid hair and rinse
WEEK 2 & 5
Wash hair in sections using Afro Shampoo Bar
Apply Hibisculious Deep Conditioner (BeUNIQUE Hair Care) braid hair, leave for an hour and rinse
WEEK 3 & 6
Apply Avocado Glaze ((BeUNIQUE Hair Care) braid hair and steam
Wash with Giovanni 50/50 Balanced Shampoo
Condition with Tresemme Naturals
Bentonite Clay Mask
1 Cup of Bentonite Clay
¼ cup conditioner
¼ of coconut milk
Up to 500ml of water (can be infused with herbs)
1tsp Jojoba Oil
1 tsp. Castor Oil
Other info
I use Shea Passion Milkshake (BeUNIQUE Hair Care) as a leave in and Mango Twist (BeUNIQUE Hair Care) to style. To moisturise daily I use a herbal infusion with brown algae extract and I also may use Nettle Tea Cream (BeUNIQUE Hair Care) to moisturise and soften the hair.
As you can see I’m trying to use my products on my hair on a regular basis to really see what the effects are.
